As a problem-solver, I find satisfaction in crafting practical solutions to ease inconvenience. Applying effective, innovative methods, I feel a slight pride that lingers throughout the day, which motivates me and gives me dignity.
Every time I hear children crying I feel a wave of nostalgia. I remember a time when I had to get an injection and saw that the children in the lobby, also waiting for injections, were being comforted by playing with dolls. This inspired me to design a product named Needoll, an attachable doll for needles to ease the injection process. I sought to change the typical images associated with the robotic and stiff appearance of the needle. From branding to publication, I created a product design poster with a rendered outer structure and a logo design. I also planned to expand this idea by designing lactated ringers with additional supportive products to enhance the hospital experience.
I am currently in the process of bringing Needoll to life as a real-world product. Designing a balanced grid and doll aesthetic while minimizing bulk has proven challenging. After testing multiple samples and adjusting the attachments, I solved the problem, which resulted in a more efficient and user-friendly design. One of the hardest decisions has been selecting the right material as I have to consider durability, flexibility, and overall performance. I’m weighing the pros and cons of thermoplastic elastomers and thermoplastic polyurethane, evaluating their durability, sustainability, and sanitary qualities to determine the use of the material for the product.
I can't wait for others to use my product. I find it helpful in challenging situations, and I believe it has the potential to make a meaningful difference in their daily lives. As someone who finds joy in supporting others and developing solutions, I always seek opportunities to apply my creativity. I believe that every idea has the potential to make a meaningful impact and benefit others.
